Training quizzes whose results you keep, per trainee
After a module you want to know what stuck, for the group and for each trainee, and to keep a record of it. With QuizDock connected to your identity provider, trainees sign in with their work account, results are archived under that account, and every session exports to CSV.
How do I know who is who without a sign-up sheet?
In OIDC mode, trainees sign in with the account they already have, through your OpenID Connect provider; the tokens stay on the server, never in the browser. Each phone tells its trainee “Your taking part and your score are recorded under your account.”
Let participants pick their display name decides what the room sees: off, the name comes from the account; on, trainees choose one, and their results stay attached to the account all the same. See OIDC.
Can I decide, session by session, what is recorded?
Yes. When the operator allows open access, Present asks for the Participant access: Accounts required or Open access, with Remember my choice to stop asking. In the lobby, Before starting holds the rest, fixed once the quiz starts:
- Personalised tracking, on by default: results under each trainee’s account; off, only the group’s overall results.
- Record all answers, off by default: every answer of every trainee, after a confirmation that warns it is personal data.
- Who hears the sound in this quiz, when the quiz has sound or video.
Trainees see a notice that matches these choices. See Start a room and Privacy.
Where are a session’s results afterwards?
In the quiz’s History: each archived session with its date, status, participants and success rate. A session shows Results by question (answers, success rate, average time) and the Players table (rank, nickname, score, correct answers, streak). Export (CSV) downloads that table.
A trainee’s page lists their answers question by question, with its own Export (CSV), when Record all answers was on. There is no page that gathers one trainee across quizzes, and no LMS connector: the CSV files are the way out. See Reports and history and Export results.
A training day: several quizzes, one ranking
One room can hold the whole day. After a quiz, Next quiz picks the following one: trainees stay in the room and nobody types the PIN again. The picker marks what was Already played and Not played yet. End quiz… stops one midway, with Keep what was played so far.
Each quiz scores from zero; between quizzes the projection shows the Room standings, and the day ends on the Room podium. In History, the room’s standings add up its archived quizzes and leave with Export standings (CSV), provided every quiz of the room had Personalised tracking on.
How do trainers share their material?
Two ways. Share with the instance’s other hosts puts a quiz in their list, read-only: they present it without keeping results, or create their own copy from it. Offer as a template puts a copy of a ready quiz, with its licence, in Templates, where any trainer chooses Create a quiz from this; offering again replaces the entry, and Withdraw removes it without touching the copies taken.
Between instances, Export writes a .quizdock.zip with the media, which
Import turns into a new draft. See Templates and
community.
And the administration?
Roles are Participant, Host and Manager, read from your provider’s roles claim or granted in the administration’s Accounts page; a manager administers without presenting. When a trainer leaves, an administrator transfers their quizzes to another account, media and history included. The operator can lock settings, and every administrative change, from the web or the command line, is written to an audit trail that is never edited. See QuizDock for organisations, Accounts and roles and Audit.
Questions
Which identity providers work with QuizDock?
Any OpenID Connect provider, in principle: QuizDock uses Discovery, the authorization code flow with PKCE and the provider’s signing keys, nothing provider-specific. Keycloak is the one tested and shipped, in the full setup; others have not been tested. See OIDC.
Can I see all the results of one trainee across several trainings?
Not on one page. Results are recorded under the trainee’s account in each session, and the history is kept per quiz. A room’s standings add up the quizzes played in it. To follow a trainee across sessions, combine the CSV exports. See Reports and history.
Does QuizDock connect to an LMS?
No. QuizDock has no LMS connector; results leave as CSV files (semicolon-separated, UTF-8) per session, per room and per player. See Export results.
Can external guests join a session without an account?
Yes, if the operator allows open access. The trainer then chooses Open access at launch: the PIN and a nickname are enough, and no individual result is kept for that session. See Start a room.
How long are training results kept?
Archived sessions are kept 365 days, then deleted when the operator runs the purge command; nothing deletes them automatically, and the period is not a setting. See Privacy and retention.
